Lost Looking for You

Amanda Lara

I look for you

like a dog looks for its owner

longing to see your face

or bump into you at the store.

I look for you

on the merry-go-round.

I look for you

to be at peace

when we look

into each other’s eyes

to feel the pain of our hurt,

to feel happily in love with you

just one more time.

I look for you

when things go dark,

when things go wrong

for you to make them right

and make things bright.

I look for you

to take me on another ride

in your Cadillac dream-ride,

I look for you

in everyone’s face.

And now

I look at you in the ground

without a goodbye.

I’ll look for you.
